Is Networking a Good Career for My Child?

Short answer: yes — for the right child. Network engineering is a real, skilled profession with a clear career ladder, starting salaries around ₹3–4.5 LPA and rising to ₹15–30+ LPA at senior levels. It does not require an expensive degree. But it suits a specific kind of person, and this page is as much about when it is the wrong choice as when it is right.

What does a network engineer actually do?

Every company runs on a network. The internet in the office, the connection between branches, the link to the bank's servers, the Wi-Fi in the hospital — someone has to design it, build it, and fix it when it breaks. That person is a network engineer.

It is closer to being an electrician or a civil engineer than to being a "computer person". It is practical, hands-on, diagnostic work. When something breaks, they are the ones who find out why. It is not glamorous — and it is not going away, because every year the world depends on networks more, not less.

What will they earn?

StageTypical salary (India)
Fresher, CCNA certified₹3 – 4.5 LPA
2–4 years' experience₹4.5 – 8 LPA
5–8 years (CCNP level)₹8 – 16 LPA
Senior / expert (CCIE, security, cloud)₹16 – 35+ LPA

These are honest market ranges, not brochure numbers. The first job is not a large salary — but the slope matters more than the starting point. A network engineer who keeps learning doubles their income in four to five years, and the ceiling is genuinely high.

The other thing worth knowing: these skills are portable. Networks work the same way in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Dubai and Toronto. Many of our graduates have gone abroad on the strength of the same certification.

Will AI take these jobs?

Parents ask this now, and it deserves a straight answer rather than reassurance.

AI will change the job. It is unlikely to remove it. AI is very good at generating a configuration; it cannot walk into a server room, find the cable someone unplugged, and trace why a hospital has lost its connection. The physical, diagnostic, responsibility-carrying part of the work is the part that pays — and it is the part AI is furthest from doing.

What is true: the engineer who only knows how to type commands will be squeezed. The engineer who understands why the network behaves as it does — and who can also automate with tools like Python — will be more valuable, not less. That is precisely why our course teaches the reasoning and the labs, not just the commands. Read our honest piece on AI and network engineering.

Is it right for YOUR child?

Be honest with yourself here. It suits some people and not others.

It is a good fit if they:

  • Enjoy figuring out why something is broken — and do not give up after twenty minutes
  • Are practical and like working with their hands as much as with theory
  • Are patient. Networking rewards methodical people, not fast ones
  • Do not need to be the centre of attention — much of this is quiet, careful work

It is a poor fit if they:

  • Want a job with no studying after they are hired — this field requires learning for life
  • Are only doing it because you told them to. This is the biggest cause of failure we see, and no institute can fix it
  • Want quick money without the hard part. Networking pays well precisely because it is difficult

A degree is not required. We have placed students from B.Sc., BCA, B.Com, diploma and 12th-pass backgrounds. What is required is that they want it.

What it costs, and how to check us out

Our fees are published openly — you should be suspicious of any institute that will not tell you the price without a phone call:

  • CCNA (the starting certification): ₹21,000, 2–3 months
  • CCNP (the professional level, later): ₹50,000
  • Interest-free installments available on both. Full table on our fees page.

That is a real amount of money for most families, so please do the sensible thing: come with your child to a free demo class before you pay anything. Sit at the back. Watch the teaching. Look at the lab equipment. Ask us hard questions — including about the students who did not get placed.

We have taught in Ahmedabad since 2004 and our reviews are public (★ 4.9 across 166). You can meet Vipul Sir, who teaches every batch himself. Bring your scepticism — it is the right instinct.

Frequently asked questions

Is networking a good career in India?

Yes, for the right person. It has a clear ladder from around ₹3-4.5 LPA as a certified fresher to ₹16-35+ LPA at senior level, does not require an expensive degree, and the skills are portable internationally.

Does my child need an engineering degree?

No. We have placed students from B.Sc., BCA, B.Com, diploma and 12th-pass backgrounds. CCNA has no formal prerequisites — what matters is willingness to study and do the lab work.

Will AI replace network engineers?

It is unlikely to remove the job, though it will change it. AI can generate a configuration but cannot physically diagnose a broken network or carry responsibility for an outage. Engineers who understand why networks behave as they do, and who can automate, will be more valuable.

What does the training cost?

CCNA is ₹21,000 and takes 2-3 months. CCNP later is ₹50,000. Interest-free installments are available. Visit for a free demo class before paying anything.

How can I check the institute is genuine?

Visit in person before paying. Attila Technologies has taught in Ahmedabad since 2004 with public reviews (4.9 across 166 Justdial reviews). Sit in a free class, see the lab equipment, and ask about students who were not placed.
